Big Pine Key, FL
The atmosphere to this place is – well – worth a hundred thousand or more! Literally….
When you enter the door (after seeing the hostess) you realize you are surrounded by many many dollar bills, many layers thick. The decor reminds you that this place has been around for a long time and seen numerous patrons come thru its doors.
The No Name Pub has garnered Zagat awards for food, but the truth from my perspective is that it is a costly tourist trap. A very cool one, but still just a pub with a history.
I will say the Fish Dip was good, as was the No Name Amber. But the fish and chips were just big, skinny, deep fried fish served with a ton of potato slices deep fried and a tiny plastic container of coleslaw and another of tartar sauce. Our bill (a beer, a high noon, Fish Dip and Fish & Chips (shared) was $55 before tip.
What I would say – go here at least once. Its on a very cool key, with very cool deer and the decor will amaze you. Twice? Three Times? Not so sure.
On a side not, there is a Winn-Dixie where you turn off Rt 1 and a small shopping center.
